Happy Memorial Day from the Shreveport Writer’s Club!
May brought us an awesome meeting for the Shreveport Writer’s Club. We had new faces and enjoyed each other’s company.
We awarded some making the mark pens to members. They qualified by making their works public and sharing them. We always encourage our members to promote their work. It’s a great way to get their work and name out there.
The group participated in a flash writing assignment. The topics were: Happiness, Large is…, Let me tell you about this uncomfortable situation, I almost got away with… and topic of choice. As always we had some creative works that came up and were shared.
Towards the end of the meeting we held an open discussion. We talked about different ways to organize your book during the writing process. Local author events were also discussed along with sites where writers can find critiques. These open discussions help us to give each other advice and learn new techniques.
Next month we will have updates about pricing and promotion concerning the club Anthology.
The next club meeting, on June 4th, will be held at the Broadmoor Library in Shreveport, Louisiana. It starts at 10am and ends at 12pm. We will no longer meet at the Bossier Arts Council.
Dues are also due next month for members. Make sure to get with Ken.
I hope that we can see new visitors and old friends at the next meeting.
