August Meeting

The Shreveport Writers Club will meet on Saturday, August 7th at the Shreve Memorial Library Broadmoor Branch, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. The meeting will begin at 10 AM and conclude at 12 PM.

This will be a regular business meeting. Members and guests are invited to bring a short sample of work to share during the Round Robin portion of the meeting.

2021 Anthology Now Available in Paperback

The Shreveport Writers Club is happy to announce that the 2021 Anthology, For a Shorter Social Distance Tomorrow is now available in paperback from Amazon.com. The Kindle version is also available.

June Meeting Set

The Shreveport Writers Club regular June meeting will be a virtual Zoom meeting, 10 am until 12 pm, Saturday, June 5th.

Author, Deondre Holmes will be the guest speaker. He will be leading a discussion on combatting Imposter Syndrome and being authentic.

Members and guests are welcome. An invitation and Zoom link will be sent via email prior to the meeting. If you are interested in attending, send an email requesting the Zoom link to shreveportwritersclub@gmail.com.

Shreveport Writers Club Presents New Anthology

The Shreveport Writers Club proudly presents a new anthology for 2021: For a Shorter Social Distance Tomorrow.

Featuring eleven local authors, edited by Jeff Babineaux, this powerful collection of stories, poems and a children’s book excerpt explores “lives affected by pandemic, isolation, division and a search for connection against the chaotic backdrop of the events of 2020.”

For a Shorter Social Distance Tomorrow is available now for Kindle download. Proceeds benefit the Shreveport Writers Club which aims to promote, celebrate and connect writers who represent a broad spectrum of experience, goals, viewpoints and genres in Northwest Louisiana.

May Critique Group Zoom Meeting

This month’s Shreveport Writers Club Critique Group will meet virtually via Zoom Saturday, May 15th, 2021, from 10 am until 12 noon.

May Meeting To Include Guest Speaker

    

On Saturday, May 1st, The Shreveport Writers Club welcomes author Britney Winn Lee as guest speaker via Zoom.

Britney Winn Lee is the author of The Boy With Big, Big Feelings (2020), The Girl With Big, Big Questions (forthcoming 2021), Deconstructed Do-Gooder: A Memoir About Learning Mercy the Hard Way, and the editor of Rally: Communal Prayers for Lovers of Jesus and Justice.

When not writing, Britney serves as the director of Noel Community Arts Program and the editor and content coordinator for Red Letter Christians. She lives in Shreveport, LA with her husband, son, and miniature aussie, Beau.

The meeting will also include regular club business and activities.

August Meeting Set With Guest Speaker

SWC - revised The Shreveport Writers Club will meet August 3rd at the Broadmoor Library, 1212 Captain Shreve Dr, at 10 AM.

This month the guest speaker will be emerging novelist and blogger Harrice Daniels-Mitchell (Rhys Daniels), She is a third grade teacher and small business owner.

Daniels-Mitchell is a first time novelist. Her short stories have appeared in Savoir Faire Literary and Art Magazine and Heliopolis Magazine (upcoming).

As publisher of Hedon Elementary the Blog, Harrice has amassed more than 400 readers in the span of four months. You may view her latest installments at www.hedonelementary@wordpress.com.

In addition to the guest speaker, other business will include information on the upcoming “Paired Expressions: Visual and Lyrical Art” collaboration with the Shreveport Art Club. Time is running out for those who wish to participate!

Other general business will be conducted, as well as the Round Robin reading portion of the meeting (where writers are encouraged to share short excerpts of the their work_ and the always challenging Flash Fiction Exercise.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Invite a friend and Write On!

Writer’s Medley 2019

The Shreveport Writers Club held their semi-annual Writer’s Medley on Friday, June 7th in the venue space at The Agora Borealis in Shreveport.

The writers shared food, fun and their writing with other members and assembled guests.
