On June 6, 2015, the Shreveport Writers Club gathered together at the Bossier Arts Council Annex for their monthly meeting. Guests and visitors were absent today, but there were ten members in attendance. The meeting started with the presentation of the Making the Mark Award to six members. Congratulations to Ken, Richard, Margaret, Katie, Bill, and Stephanie! After the Flash Writing exercise, we discussed old business such as our first meetup at 2nd & Charles bookstore in Bossier Cityon May 28th. It will now become a regular event on the last Thursday of the month at 3pm at 2nd & Charles. The club’s 80th Anniversary Anthology was discussed and club dues wee taken. New business included club promotion and officer positions.
The Second Quarter Member Writing Contest featured the topic “Life is full of Questions”. The winner of the contest was Stephanie Bullard with her story “The Flower Pot”. Congratulations Stephanie!
The meeting finished with a wonderful session of Round Robin. Thanks to those who shared their work.
The writers critique group will meet from 10:00-noon at the Broadmoor Library in Shreveport on June 20th. This group is strictly for members who are current with their annual dues. Guests and visitors are welcome to attend the next general meeting which will be held on July 11th.
